## Summary

The Wolverhampton City Council is planning a procurement process focused on "Additional capacity for social care domiciliary reablement." This initiative falls under the social work and related services category and aims to enhance support for individuals to maintain independent living. Key dates include a supplier engagement day scheduled for 4th August 2017 and an engagement end date set for 23rd February 2018. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, which allows the Council to outline commissioning intentions and gather insights from potential service providers regarding the market's capabilities.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in social care services, particularly those with a focus on reablement and support for independent living. Companies that offer innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life for service users, particularly those with complex needs such as dementia, will be well-positioned to compete. The engagement day will also provide a platform for suppliers to understand the Council's requirements directly and establish connections with commissioners, facilitating potential collaborations and contracts.

## Notice

The aim of this event is to provide an outline of the commissioning intentions to potential service providers to gain a wider understanding of the scope of interest and the market's capabilities. Following the announcement on 8 March, in the Spring Budget, the Chancellor announced additional funding for Adult Social Care amounting to PS2 billion nationally. The Council is progressing an ambitious development of its services in line with the Care Act policy drivers. The objective will be to intervene and support people earlier, reduce, defer and delay the need for more intensive support to help people be as independent as possible. The Council intends to commission additional capacity for social care domiciliary reablement . This will be aligned across health and social care offering services, between hospital and home which enable people to retain and or maintain independent living. Support shall be provided in a manner which offers confidentiality, respect, dignity and privacy and does not erode the Service User's capacity for self-care or the contribution made by family or carers, this is in line with the ethos of reablement for Service Users that supports every person to maximize their potential for independence Reablement embeds a philosophy and approach which supports people to build on their current assets and abilities which empowers individuals to 'do things for themselves' rather than having things done for them. This is a short-term provision, and encourages individuals to develop the confidence and skills to carry out these activities themselves and, consequently, removes or reduces the need for ongoing domiciliary care, and other formal support. This will be a service that is inclusive of people with dementia where there is a reablement need. The provider/s will ensure the delivery of the following outcomes: *To enable Independent Living *To deliver care closer to home *To improve quality of life By *Working with individuals to identify their personal goals to achieve optimum health and wellbeing outcomes *Promoting and maximizing independent living by supporting individuals to retain existing skills and regain lost skills *Reducing the need for on - going support following the reablement intervention *Supporting individuals to access a range of universal services that may help retain their independence and support their health and well-being *Preventing unnecessary admissions to hospital or residential care *Support individuals to continue to live independently in the community The Council will be holding a supplier engagement day on Friday 4. August 2017 from between 10am and 12pm. The event will provide an opportunity for The Council to engage with the market and hear from potential suppliers who would like to find out more about the requirement and meet with Commissioners.
