## Summary

Wiltshire Council is seeking bids for the construction of a new two-form entry primary school, referred to as WO0268, in Ludgershall, as part of the ongoing Army Basing Review by the Ministry of Defence. The project, which falls under the construction category for educational buildings, has an estimated value of £5.4 million and aims to accommodate an influx of 4,000 military personnel and their families to the area by making the school operationally ready by September 2019. The tender period concluded on 30 April 2018, with the contract commencing on 1 July 2018 and expected to end around 1 September 2019.

This tender presents significant opportunities for construction companies, particularly those experienced in educational infrastructure projects. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, as the procurement process is selective and tailored to foster competitive bidding. Firms specialising in building works and those capable of delivering projects within the required timeframe will find this opportunity aligns well with their capabilities and resources, contributing to growth in the market as demand for educational facilities increases in response to the relocation of military families.

## Notice

Following an Army Basing Review undertaken by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in March 2003, it has been decided by the MOD that the Brigade Headquarters of the British Army Reaction Force is to be relocated to the Salisbury Plain Training Area with three Armoured Infantry Brigades. As a consequence, an additional 4,000 military personnel and their families will be relocated to Tidworth, Ludgershall, Bulford and Larkhill. This process has already started and is due to be completed in circa 2019. A major implication of this Army re-basing programme is that additional facilities such as Schools, Housing, Leisure Facilities, Health and Social Services need to be provided to meet the increase in population in the affected areas. Within the Ludgershall area, it has been identified that there is a need for the development of a new two form entry primary school including a thirty-place nursery to be located on a circa 2.3-hectare parcel of land provided by the MOD via a Section 106 Agreement within the site of the former Corruna Barracks in Ludgershall. The requirement is that the new school and nursery is operationally ready to accept pupils by September 2019 which is the purpose of this tender opportunity.
