## Summary

The recent procurement process titled "Hybrid 2 63 Can Racks Project" was led by the CTM Portal for the NDA Shared Services Alliance to fulfil the requirements of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). The project, categorised under the nuclear energy sector, involves the manufacture and delivery of precision-engineered stainless steel containment systems for spent fuel, with a forecasted contract period from 10 September 2021 to 31 August 2026. The estimated value of the contracts awarded totals approximately £44,984,818, with potential extensions to meet increased demand. The procurement method used was a selective procedure, and the delivery addresses are located in the North West region of the United Kingdom. The tender was concluded on 15 April 2021.

This invitation for tenders presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in nuclear energy and manufacturing, as well as suppliers with a strong background in engineering and precision fabrication. Companies such as large-scale manufacturers with experience in producing nuclear containment systems and safety compliance are encouraged to engage, especially given the potential for additional contracts beyond the initial commitment. The awarded contracts are currently held by Goodwin International Limited and Carr's Engineering Limited, indicating competitive scope for major players in this field.

## Notice

In order to support the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), Sellafield Ltd requires Hybrid 2 63 Can Racks ("Racks") to store spent fuel. Two contracts have been awarded for the manufacture, testing, inspection and delivery of Hybrid 2 63 Can Racks to Sellafield Ltd. The Hybrid 2 63 Can Racks are a high integrity, precision engineered, stainless steel, nuclear spent fuel containment system which need to be manufactured in accordance with the design specification set by Sellafield Ltd. The design specification for the Rack is suitable for repeat, production manufacture. Each of the two contracts awarded has an initial commitment for the supply of 80 racks to Sellafield Ltd (equalling a total of 160 racks). There are however provisions in the contract to enable an increase to demand across both contracts. The overall scope therefore has the potential to result in the delivery of up to 240 racks across the 2 contracts. The Lowest contract value is based on delivery of 80 racks per supplier (160 in total). The Highest contract value is based on delivery of 240 racks - an assumption here has been made that the optional 80 Racks (above the initial commitment) will be awarded on the basis of a 50/50 split between the two suppliers; however, Sellafield has the discretion either not to award the additional 80 Racks or to award on a different basis than 50/50. All Contract Values within this Contract Award Notice are also un-escalated figures. Consequently the out-turn contract value will be subject to multiple factors. The Contract end date is a forecast end date. The Contract is based on delivery of the number of Racks detailed above rather than a specified end date.
