## Summary

Birmingham City Council has recently awarded a contract for arboriculture services under the title "P0560_2021 - Arboriculture Services (Non-PFI) - AWARD." This procurement falls within the services category, specifically focusing on tree maintenance, with a significant requirement for managing the Council's extensive tree stock of approximately 736,000 trees in the West Midlands. The contract has been established as a framework agreement lasting five years, divided into two geographical lots, and was initiated using an open procurement method. The award was officially published on 29 September 2021, with the contract commencing on 1 July 2021 and concluding on 30 June 2025. Businesses interested in this opportunity were required to submit their Selection Questionnaire (SQ) by 12:00 noon on 16 March 2021 to proceed with the tendering process.

This awarded contract presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in tree maintenance and related services, particularly those classified as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Relevant companies might include tree surgeons, landscape maintenance firms, and environmental service providers that possess expertise in diverse arboricultural tasks such as young tree maintenance, pruning, and tree surveys. Given the comprehensive range of services outlined in the framework, including emergency works and periodic tree inspections, businesses can strategically align their offerings to meet the requirements of the Council and contribute to sustainable urban forestry management. Potential competitors are encouraged to establish their qualifications and readiness to engage in ongoing tree maintenance projects over the contract duration.
