## Summary

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has awarded a contract for the procurement of a Gigabit Pathway Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) to Virgin Media Business Limited. This project involves enhancing 22 WAN circuits across 8 sites to support improved connectivity, either at 1Gb or 10Gb bearers. The procurement stage is complete with the contract period starting from 1 July 2024 and extending until 30 June 2029. The initiative focuses on delivering robust connectivity solutions to one of the largest acute teaching hospitals in the region, addressing increasing demands for bandwidth and reliable network infrastructure. The overall contract value stands at £961,740, and it falls under the IT services category, specifically covering consulting, software development, Internet, and support. The procurement method used was selective, primarily through a call-off from a framework agreement under CCS RM3808.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses in the IT and telecommunications sectors, particularly those with capabilities in providing high-performance network solutions and infrastructure upgrades. Companies with expertise in SD-WAN and scalable network technologies will find this contract particularly appealing, given the emphasis on enhanced and reliable connectivity to support the hospital's operations. Although the procurement is not specifically targeting SMEs or VCSEs, large businesses specialising in IT services can benefit from the long-term contract and the potential for further collaboration with the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The project not only aims to uplift the current infrastructure but also to ensure continuity and support for future technological advancements within the Trust.

## Notice

Investment for 22 WAN circuits across 8 sites to be uplifted to 1Gb on 1Gb or 10Gb on 10Gb bearers for delivery this financial year. The Connectivity services are being procured via a contract that was implemented originally by Norfolk Community Health & Care as an ''anchor tenant/header contract', contracted with Virgin Media Business (VMB) based on the technology being implemented from the Crown Commercial NS2 lot 1 under CCS RM3808. The Trust's WAN connectivity and links have seen little to no investment or refresh for numerous years. As the NNUH is one of the largest acute teaching hospitals, the need for reliable connectivity has increased more and more. Demand for bandwidth across the Trust continues to increase, together with efficient and dependable connectivity/network infrastructure required to keep pace with this fast-moving technology sector, and to deliver the services required by the clinicians, the Trust team overall, and patients, alike.
