## Summary

The Department of Health is seeking suppliers for the "Healthy Start Vitamin Scheme Product Manufacture of Children's Vitamins (Lot 2)" project, which falls under the vitamins category (CPV code 33616000). The procurement process is now in the Award stage, with the contract period set from 1st October 2017 to 30th September 2022. This selective procurement method involves a call-off from a framework agreement, with a total contract value of approximately £2.5 million. The contract also allows for deliveries beyond the UK, including overseas territories and various European locations.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the health and nutrition sector, particularly those involved in manufacturing vitamins and supplements. Businesses capable of meeting the product testing requirements and those experienced in public sector contracts would be well-suited to engage in this tender. Suppliers that can ensure high-quality production while navigating the compliance and testing processes outlined in the tender will find a strategic advantage in the procurement landscape shaped by the Department of Health.

DH has procured a suitable provider to manufacture the children's vitamins. DH has allowed for full product testing of the manufactured Products by the supplier(s) in the first year of the Framework Period, during which time no orders for vitamins may be placed by a contracting authority There will be no separate costs to deliver full Product testing and implementation activities during the first year of the Framework Period. Costs for this activity should be included in the overall pricing for the Product. The Authority reserves the right to terminate the framework agreement prior to the operational start date if the awarded supplier fails to meet the testing requirements in the first year of the Framework Period.
