## Summary

The Shipton Parish Council is seeking tenders for the "Shipton Reading Room Renovation and Extension" project located in Shipton, England. This procurement falls under the construction works category, with a project value of £250,000. The tender period concludes on 15 January 2021, with the anticipated contract start date on 8 March 2021, lasting until 13 August 2021. This project, arising from a structural survey highlighting significant needs for renovation, aims to address various structural issues within the 110-year-old Cotswold stone building.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for local construction firms, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to contribute to a community-focused project. Companies with expertise in renovation and building works, especially those familiar with energy-efficient practices and accessibility improvements, would be well-suited to compete. The Shipton Parish Council is prioritising bids from local contractors to ensure the project fosters employment within the area.

## Notice

Shipton Reading Room, our Village Hall, is a Cotswold stone building built 110 years ago. It has changed very little since then and it has had very little improvement over the years. A structural survey carried out in 2015 has shown that the hall is in dire need of renovation and is progressing towards dilapidation. Quite apart from the many structural issues it is cold, damp and unwelcoming. The current capacity of the building is capped at 60 by the fire regulations because there is only one way in and out of the building. The proposed project is to carry out a major renovation of the building including: rewiring, new plumbing, new drainage and sewage system, roof stripped, insulated and retiled, new energy efficient heating system, replacement of rotten floor joists, replacement of rotten windows, and resolution of the several damp issues. In addition there will be a small extension which will create a new entrance lobby and provide space for modern, wheelchair accessible toilets. Creating a new entrance will create space within the existing building for an appropriately sized kitchen and designated storage room. Additional information: The Tender Pack is now available for this project. If you are interested in tendering for the project - please request the pack using the using the email address above. Priority will be given to local companies as it is important to this project that it provides employment in our area.
