## Summary

Essex County Council is seeking bids for the tender titled "In Lieu of Short-Term Enablement," aimed at providing high-quality intermediate care services for adults in the East of England. This procurement falls under the health and social work services category and is currently in the tender stage, with the submission deadline set for 11 December 2019. The contract is expected to commence on 3 February 2020 and will run until 2 May 2021. The procurement process follows an open procedure, allowing all interested parties to participate.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the health and social care sectors, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs) that offer integrated support services. Competitors should be prepared to deliver flexible, responsive, and high-quality care solutions that enable individuals to maintain independence in their own homes or supported settings. This initiative not only addresses immediate community needs but also opens pathways for long-term partnerships in the health and social care industry.

## Notice

The In Lieu of Short-Term Enablement Service is for adults who have been assessed as requiring a period of intermediate care whilst determining their longer term support needs. The Service is designed to provide a high quality locality based intermediate care service. The Service will provide flexible, intensive, consistent and integrated short term support to enable an adult to remain at home or return to their normal place of residence. The Service will provide support to adults to maximise their independence and achieve their optimum level of function, usually in their own home (but support could also be delivered within other settings including a relative's home, a residential setting or temporary accommodation), including a rapid response when required. This could be to enable an early and safe transfer from hospital, to prevent admission to hospital, or to meet an immediate support requirement within the community.
