## Summary

The procurement process involves Highways England, which is looking to engage in a project titled "Traffic Technology and Innovation - a Guide for Road Authorities." This initiative, classified under research and development services, is based in London, United Kingdom. The project is currently in the award stage, following its completion, and the contract was awarded on 6th February 2019. The contract, valued at £6,499, has a duration starting from 5th February 2019 and ending on 31st March 2019. The procurement method used was selective, with the call-off executed from a framework agreement.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those within the consultancy and research sectors focused on traffic management technologies. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may not be eligible, but voluntary and community sector enterprises (VCSEs) could find a suitable fit. Firms able to create cohesive guidance materials for local authorities and effectively engage with stakeholders through forums or similar platforms will likely excel in this competitive process.

## Notice

The Department for Transport want to develop a programme of activity to help build consensus and a community to support the deployment of technologies which improve the management of our roads. 1.2 This research project aimed to provide a simple and concise guide to what local authorities can achieve using existing arrangements. 1.3 An extension of this research project is required to develop the draft local authority guidance that has been produced from research findings into cohesive guidance. It requires close working with local authorities and industry, potentially using the Traffic Technology Forum as part of the stakeholder engagement. This will provide added benefit to local authorities.
