## Summary

The Derbyshire County Council is conducting a procurement process titled "Peak Resort - Traffic Monitoring," focused on the integration of advanced video traffic analytics in the East Midlands, United Kingdom. This project aims to monitor and assess traffic impacts related to the Peak Resort, an expansive leisure and wellness destination. The procurement is currently in the Award stage, with the contract awarded on 29 January 2021 and set to be in effect until 28 January 2026. The total value of the contract is £50,000, and it was delivered through a sole supplier procurement method, with a deadline for proposals having passed on 24 January 2021.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in software solutions and IT services, particularly those with capabilities in traffic management and analytics. Companies that can provide innovative non-invasive monitoring technologies may be particularly well-suited to compete in future procurements. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to explore similar tender opportunities, as the current procurement framework supports SMEs, fostering business growth in the sector.

## Notice

PEAK is an all-year leisure, education, wellness, and entertainment destination set in 300 acres of reclaimed parkland on the edge of the Peak District National Park and Chesterfield. PEAK is to be marketed as a gateway, resort and campus attracting international and city-based visitors to the area as well as being available to local and regional residents. To monitor and assess the impact that PEAK has on the surrounding infrastructure and Derbyshire a series of pedestrian, cycle and vehicle monitoring locations are required to be installed and operated before, during and after the project's completion as part of the monitoring requirements under the S278 agreement. Traditional monitoring solutions rely on invasive in-ground infrastructure such as induction and or piezo loop technology. To install this technology sections of road must be temporarily closed during the process which will result in a significant level of traffic disruption and traffic diversions. To minimise the disruption to the network in a built up and well trafficked area, both during installation and as part of any planned maintenance, this project aims to take advantage of recent advancements in video traffic analytics. The placement of video cameras at key locations will provide all relevant pedestrian, cycle, and vehicle classifications without the need to install in ground technology.
