## Summary

The University of Southampton is conducting a soft market testing exercise titled "Computer Based Exam System" as part of its procurement process, currently in the planning stage. This initiative aims to explore potential options for replacing the existing computer-based examination system used by approximately 38,000 students. Interested parties can submit their responses to the Soft Market Testing Exercise (SMTE) Questionnaire until 13th January 2017 at 12:00 noon. The organisation is inviting information on systems that support formative and summative assessments and can integrate with existing university systems. The engagement end date for inquiries is 23rd February 2018.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in software development and IT solutions, particularly those with expertise in educational technologies. Companies that provide scalable examination systems capable of managing large user volumes, as well as those experienced in integrating solutions with platforms like Banner or QuestionMark Perception, would be particularly well-suited to participate. By engaging in this process, businesses can potentially influence the final specifications, positioning themselves for future contracts related to the university's examination systems.
