## Summary

This award is part of an open procedure below the threshold, targeting the repair and maintenance services industry category (CPV: 50000000). The contract, valued at £60,000, starts on 1st September 2024 and will initially run until 31st August 2027, with the possibility of annual extensions to a maximum of five years. This engagement involves close collaboration with the University's Departments of Biology to ensure the efficiency and functionality of all ULT freezers. Key milestone dates include the tender period end on 21st June 2024 and the award date of 7th August 2024, with the award notice published on 9th August 2024.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialised in scientific equipment maintenance. The extensive service requirements, including visual checks, temperature calibrations, and detailed reporting, mean businesses with expertise in these areas and a proactive customer service approach will be well-suited to compete. The awarded supplier, C & M Scientific Limited, headquartered in Livingston, West Lothian, exemplifies the type of SME capable of meeting the University's stringent service specifications and benefiting from a long-term partnership.
