## Summary

The procurement process is led by the Defra Network eTendering Portal for the project titled "AESME Lot 9: Assessment of adaptive capacity AES responses to climate change". This falls under the industry category of research and development consultancy services. The project is currently in the Award stage, with a contract value of £83,000. The contract period commenced on 5th December 2018 and will extend until 31st March 2020. The contract primarily serves various locations, including the United Kingdom and British Overseas Territories, and was awarded following a selective procurement method via a call-off from a framework agreement.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) with expertise in climate adaptation and environmental consultancy. Companies equipped to assess the impacts of climate change on agricultural practices and environmental outcomes would be particularly well-positioned to compete. Engaging in this project can enhance their capabilities, expand their clientele, and contribute significantly to related sustainability initiatives in the region.

## Notice

The aim of this project is to assess whether the current AES schemes provide sufficient flexibility in relation to both the gradual impacts of climate change and changes to the severity and frequency of extreme weather events in their ability to deliver their environmental outcomes. Two aspects will be assessed. Are climate change impacts impacting the ability of agreement holders to deliver AES prescriptions and indicators of success Are the operation (both the design and implementation) of AES sufficiently flexible to ensure that climate change changes to the natural environment can be accommodated with no adverse impact on the desired environmental outcomes.
