## Summary

The NMRN Operations is currently seeking tenders for the project titled "Design and installation of new outdoor play area themed around HMS Trincomalee," located in the North East of England. This procurement falls under the industry category of playground equipment and is at the tender stage, with submissions due by 30th November 2018. The contract is expected to commence on 7th January 2019 and conclude by 31st May 2019, with a total estimated value of £146,000, inclusive of a minimum budget of £80,000. The procurement method specified is an open procedure, allowing a broad range of suppliers to participate.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in children's play equipment design and installation, particularly those with experience in creating accessible and engaging play spaces. Companies that can provide interactive features and cater to diverse audiences, from toddlers to adults, would be well-suited to compete. Additionally, expertise in project management and compliance with safety regulations will be essential for contractors to effectively manage the installation in a public setting while maintaining visitor engagement at the museum.

## Notice

The Services are divided into two lots. Potential suppliers are invited to tender for one or both of the two lots. Lot One The museum has a hugely popular outdoor play galleon which is of wooden construction and is installed on a wet pour surface. It is in excess of 15 years in age and in deteriorating condition. Its popularity is such that it cannot be removed without significantly impacting on the visitor experience of our family audience. Tender submissions are invited for the design and installation of a new, more accessible replacement themed around HMS Trincomalee, a historic ship berthed alongside the existing play area. A site visit is integral to any submission. We encourage all contractors to engage with Museum staff to ensure that they understand the site. Design Specifics 1. Play area installations should be themed specifically around HMS Trincomalee and the sailing navy theme and include interactive features which support this e.g. masts, ship wheel, multiple decks etc. 2. The overall design should not be age specific and should build in opportunities for the whole family to engage in activity, from toddlers to grandparents. 3. There should be a variety of design elements which make it accessible to audiences with different learning and physical access needs but without compromising the level of challenge offered to more physically active users. 4. The design should extend to child-friendly outdoor interpretation which introduces the story of... maintenance, operation, impact surfacing and determination of critical fall height) b. BS8417 - preservation of timber c. ISO1461 - Galvanising (minor bracketry/posts) d. ISO13920 - Welding - general tolerances for welded constructions e. Equalities Act 2010 Details of warranty must be included. Details of future repair and maintenance costs must be included. General The Museum would appoint said contractor(s) in the role of principle designer and also that of principal contractor(s) (as defined in CDM 2015) as appropriate. Any submission should account for overall project management which would include the liaison with relevant officers within not only the museum, but also other stakeholders where appropriate (e.g. service users, Hartlepool Borough Council planning department etc). The contractor(s) will provide an appropriate construction phase Health & Safety plan for the project and ensure appropriate risk assessment and method statements are undertaken for every stage of the project and in addition develop a scheduled works plan. This must include the provision of an access plan, describing how you will achieve the project in relation to our complex site (this includes the provision of managing the installation while the site is open to the general public for the duration of the project). The contractor(s) must demonstrate how it will abide by both the security and health and safety regulations of the museum in addition to any national regulations.
