## Summary

The procurement process pertains to a tender issued by Sheffield City Council for the "CY05867 - Fire Risk Assessment Works Programme 2019/2020", focusing on multiple primary and infant schools in the Yorkshire and the Humber region. The contract primarily involves electrical installation work and refurbishment tasks to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations. The tender was published on 31 July 2020 and is at the Tender stage, with submissions due by 12 noon on 28 August 2020. The total contract value is approximately £950,000, with the works expected to start on 2 November 2020 and conclude by 19 February 2021. It is important for potential contractors to be aware of the funding limitations which cap expenditure at £1,000,000 before the end of March 2021.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in fire safety, electrical installation, and building refurbishment, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) well-versed in complying with health and safety regulations. Companies that can provide comprehensive fire alarm systems, lighting installations, fire doors, and fire protection services will be especially suited to compete. As the contract is open for submissions, this is a chance for businesses to engage with public sector projects that can enhance their portfolio and contribute to public safety initiatives.

## Notice

The Works comprise the installation of new fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, general lighting, fire doors, fire stopping/barrier upgrades, replacement of some ceiling areas, along with any associated mechanical and electrical alterations which may be required to the aforementioned school sites. Completion of the works will ensure that the building is fully compliant with fire safety regulations and can continue to operate in its intended capacity. In addition to the internal works defined above, there is also a requirement to provide new external fire egress points at two of the sites comprising ramps, landing areas, steps, retaining walls, handrails and all other associated works to make good to the surrounding areas. The Contractor shall also be responsible for the completion of the design for: * The ironmongery schedule; * The fire alarm system; * The final cable routing for electrical works. Due to the way in which the authority is funded by the Dfe, there is a limit to the available funding for each financial year, but SCC are committed to funding the full scope of the Contracted works. As such, it should be noted that the Employer will only be in a position to expend a maximum of PS1,000,000 in relation to site works before the end of March 2021, as a consequence of the aforementioned funding restrictions. The Contractor should be fully aware of these financial restrictions when preparing a programme of works and the wider tender submission. Any approval required to spend beyond the initial PS1,000,000 will be communicated early in 2021 and the Contractor will be notified of this approval at the earliest opportunity in order to facilitate completion of any outstanding contracted works.
