Business Partner role responsibilities: Directly supporting a SRO in delivery of their assigned EU Exit Programme by; - Advocating and demonstrating the value of good project discipline via the application of effective project controls and standard project tools - Supporting the adoption and embedding of agreed project standards and tools, including educating teams/ individuals in the benefits of effective and consistent application where appropriate - Facilitating access to expert support following effective diagnosis of business need or problem - Providing delivery context by helping teams/ individuals to connect with the 'bigger picture' at portfolio, Defra group or government level - Encouraging and facilitating problem-solving to overcome barriers to delivery. - Gathering and sharing intelligence (from projects and from the PMO perspective) to expose common/ shared challenges and drive portfolio-level solutions. - Helping teams/ individuals to surface project risks and issues and identify and execute appropriate mitigations/ actions to address. - Capturing and sharing the learning, whilst finding ways to convert into process improvements that benefit all projects - Acting as interpreter in helping business units to translate EU Exit Delivery Group demands/ requirements into actionable and value-adding delivery or assurance activity - Enabling two-way engagement between the projects and the EU Exit Delivery Group; ensuring that delivery concerns are heard, challenged where appropriate and acted on. - Articulating and exemplifying 'what good looks like' in terms of project delivery, governance and reporting (including risk and issue management) - Setting a high standard and demanding the best of the teams/ individuals; providing constructive challenge where quality is compromised or delivery engagement is low - Driving delivery actions and decisions towards the appropriate role/ governance group; supporting SROs, Project Leads and Project Managers to deliver their accountabilities and responsibilities - Accepting responsibility (on behalf of the PMO) when things have gone wrong, and taking ownership for finding a solution/ fixing issues - Identifying and highlighting gaps in capacity and/ or capability and working with senior leaders to identify solutions.
