Brief description: With a population of c.328,000 and a large housing stock c.28,000, the Council has a very strong commitment to and pride in improving the quality of existing stock, making sure that properties are safe, compliant and energy efficient. Excitingly, by 2030, we also aim to have 8,000 more new homes in the borough which will be a mix of council house building, homes built by registered housing providers and the private sector. To enable the delivery of all of our ambitions, we are now seeking to recruit an Assistant Director who is passionate about improving the quality of housing for our tenants, has a focus on compliance and regulation and is willing to take the difficult decisions for the right outcomes. As a strategic leader you will be forward thinking, solutions focussed and offer a commercial view on the long-term strategy, as the Council looks to grow a new culture and develop expertise and capacity within the housing directorate. You will be joining a small but progressive leadership team that will enable you to influence and work within a leadership culture that is open to change and innovation. You will also provide high level professional advice to the Council and Cabinet Members on your service areas and, lead on systems change to improve the stock and outcomes for tenants, whilst delivering real plans for more energy efficient homes and the shift to net zero carbon. The Council has been through significant changes and challenges over the past couple of years.
