The emphasis on integrating dental services with broader urgent care provisions creates a compelling landscape for growth, catering to the increasing demand for accessible and timely emergency dental services in the region. ## Notice NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (NHS Arden and GEM CSU) on behalf of NHS England (North Midlands) are inviting suitably qualified providers to deliver Unscheduled Dental Services (UDS) in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire (excluding Bassetlaw). Unscheduled Dental Services (UDS) in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire (excluding Bassetlaw) will encompass emergency and urgent dental problems that may present within or outside of routine working hours. Patients wanting to access the Unscheduled Dental Care Services will be triaged by the NHS 111 call handler; the NHS 111 service will provide the appropriate advice and where appropriate will book a same day appointment where possible or an appointment the following day with a registered Dental practice at a time and location suitable for the patient. The Urgent and Emergency Care Review and Five Year Forward View; Next Steps emphasise the need to change the way emergency care is offered, in order that everyone can receive the most appropriate care, in the most appropriate place, first time around. This includes equitable access to high quality unscheduled dental services that are integrated with the wider urgent care system. The aims of the Unscheduled Dental Service are; To deliver unscheduled dental care services providing assessment and treatment for patients with a variety of non-life-threatening dental conditions to the population of Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire To reduce inappropriate attendances at A & E To ensure services are provided in a safe, caring, appropriate and accessible environment; and To contribute the dental element of an integrated unscheduled health care service by providing advice, care and treatment to patients via NHS 111 using administrative, nursing, medical and dental professionals.
