## Summary

The Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has completed a procurement process for an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) due to a need for support services for its 1,021 employees. The open procedure tender reached its end date on 12th December 2016, and the contract was awarded on 12th December 2016, with a total value of £37,500. The service is anticipated to also accommodate Lancashire Fire and Rescue, potentially increasing service users by an additional 1,166. The contract period commenced on 1st February 2017 and will run until 31st January 2022, situated in the North West of the United Kingdom, within the services industry category related to guidance and counselling services.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the counselling and mental health support sector, as the contracting authority emphasised suitability for economic operators of this scale. Businesses that specialise in employee support services, mental health, and well-being initiatives would be well-suited to compete in future opportunities, especially considering the expansion potential if new fire and rescue authorities join the contract. The ongoing demand for EAP services reflects a growing recognition of the importance of employee well-being in the public sector.

## Notice

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority (the Authority) has a requirement to provide an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) service for it's 1,021 employees (Service Users). Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
