Supported Lodgings is a planned resource and typically offers a period of longer-term stability for a young person and helps them acquire the necessary skills in preparation for living independently. It enables a young person to live in a family environment where they can build their support networks, develop responsibilities and experiment safely with their increasing freedom whilst receiving support from an interested adult (the host). Emergency supported lodgings offers immediate/emergency accommodation for a young person on a temporary basis and can range from an overnight stay and up to 8 weeks. This type of placement is typically unplanned/same day and offers the allocated team/worker and host opportunity to build a move on plan, informed by the young person's views and needs.
