## Summary

The General Medical Council (GMC) is initiating the tender process for the "Safenet 2 Factor Authentication Upgrade" project, focused on enhancing security through a new Multi-Factor Authentication solution. The procurement falls under the Information Technology services category and will cover locations in Manchester and London. The planned procurement budget amounts to £100,000, and significant dates include an information gathering meeting scheduled for 20th June 2017, with the tender publication anticipated by the end of June 2017. This procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a contract period expected to commence on 26th July 2017 and concluding on 27th October 2017.

This tender presents a substantial opportunity for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs), to engage in the growing field of IT security services. Companies that offer solutions for Multi-Factor Authentication, including options such as physical tokens, software-based solutions, and biometric systems, will find themselves well-positioned to compete. Engaging with the GMC at this stage could facilitate partnerships and growth within the public sector market, especially for those keen on securing contracts with high-profile organisations.
