## Summary

The Equality and Human Rights Commission is conducting a tender for the project titled "EHRC 1718-38 Asylum Seekers' experiences of accessing health services." This procurement falls under the industry category of equal opportunities consultancy services and is aiming to understand the challenges faced by asylum seekers in accessing healthcare services across various regions in the United Kingdom, including England, Scotland, and Wales. The procurement process is currently at the award stage, with the contract initially published on 15th November 2017, and the tender period concluding on 6th December 2017. The awarded contract has a value of £57,240 and is set to run from 26th January 2018 to 29th March 2018.

This tender presents significant opportunities for research organisations, particularly those specialising in social research and health services. Businesses with experience in engaging with vulnerable populations and delivering ethical research methodologies will be well-positioned to compete. Given the sensitive nature of the subject, organisations capable of conducting thorough auditing and qualitative research into the health service experiences of asylum seekers will find this an excellent opportunity to contribute to vital social research while expanding their business reach and capabilities.

## Notice

We are looking for a suitably experienced contractor(s) with expertise in the areas of health and the asylum process, to carry out research into the barriers and enablers to asylum seekers accessing health services. The research will focus on current asylum seekers, and people whose asylum claims have been refused and have exhausted their rights to appeal. There are two elements/lots to this work and contractors are invited to apply for either individual or both lots. * The first lot is to undertake a comprehensive audit of published evidence of the experiences of these groups in accessing health. * The second lot is to undertake qualitative research into their lived experiences of accessing health care. Both lots will examine the impact of protected characteristics on accessing services, and how this differs in the different legislative and policy landscapes of England, Scotland and Wales. The Commission is particularly interested in bids from organisations able to engage asylum seekers in this research, deliver a methodology appropriate to the sensitive nature of this topic, and ensure the proper ethical treatment of potentially vulnerable groups. We welcome consortium bids where the needs of the project may not be met to a high standard within one organisation.
