## Summary

The Ministry of Defence, located at MOD Abbey Wood in Bristol, has completed an award stage for a procurement titled "MRO - Maritime Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul" under the code MSS/142 MRO063_CAN. This procurement falls within the services industry category, specifically focusing on the repair and maintenance of warships. The contract was initiated as a tender using the selective procurement method under a restricted procedure. The procurement process is bound by the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations (DSPCR) 2011 and supports the Royal Navy's Power, Propulsion and Auxiliaries (PPA) team. This contract, part of a larger framework agreement, commenced on 31 March 2025 and is set to end on 20 November 2026. It is part of an overarching framework valued at £317 million and covers various delivery locations, including the British Overseas Territories and the United Kingdom.

This tender offers significant business opportunities, particularly for enterprises specialising in naval maintenance and repair services. It is well-suited for SMEs and VCSEs given its suitability criteria. The agreement provides a stable framework that can be tapped into by suppliers who are part of the established call-off arrangement, with targeted mini-competitions for specific electrical, power, and distribution services. For businesses adept in these areas, especially within the context of warship maintenance, this framework agreement allows for the potential to secure repeat business, leveraging the existing structure provided by the Ministry of Defence. Furthermore, the ongoing competitive nature of the framework and the call-off contract mechanism provide continual opportunities for suppliers to demonstrate their capabilities in a critical defence sector.
