HCL has a requirement for the Supply of Fresh Produce (hereinafter referred to as "Goods"). The Contract is for the Supply of Fresh Produce on an as required basis to various establishments throughout the HCL estate. HCL has specific requirements which the successful Contractor shall comply with under any Agreement formed as a result of this tendering exercise and details of these requirements are given throughout the tender documentation. The majority of the educational establishments will require the Service term time only, although some establishments will require deliveries 52 weeks of the year. The successful Contractor must demonstrate working knowledge, experience and be thoroughly versed in all phases of farming, produce and production. The successful Contractor must provide evidence of sufficient resources available for the initial roll out as well as auditable provenance and quality assurance at every step. The Service will be used, in the main, by the schools where HCL provide a meal service within their areas. Whilst the Contract is for the supply and delivery of fresh produce, we would be looking at what supplementary services the Contractor might have to offer as Added Value to the main provision, which will provide support to the delivery of the Service to HCL customers. There will be a need for the Contractor to have a flexible approach as during the contract period the pattern, variety and volume of demand for Goods as well as the number of sites may be subject to change, and it is stressed that there are no undertakings concerning likely volume of demand. For guidance only, HCL's estimated annual value of spend on Fresh Produce is PS1.65m. However, HCL reserves the right to adjust this requirement during the duration of the Agreement should they wish to do so.
