## Summary

The University of Exeter is seeking bids for the acquisition of a Quantitative Whole Slide Imaging System, primarily intended for the archival and study of pancreatic material collected from patients with Type 1 diabetes. This procurement falls within the medical imaging services sector, classified under CPV code 85150000. The tender was published on 19th July 2019, with the submission deadline set for 19th August 2019. Contracts for this procurement are expected to commence on 13th September 2019 and run until 14th September 2020. The procurement method is an open procedure, allowing all interested suppliers to participate.

This tender represents significant opportunities for businesses involved in medical equipment manufacturing and imaging technology. Companies that specialise in medical devices, imaging systems, or related services would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The unique focus on rare pancreatic specimens may also appeal to firms with expertise in handling sensitive medical materials and conducting high-level analysis, making it a compelling opportunity for the right business to expand their portfolio and partnership with an esteemed academic institution.

## Notice

This machine will be used to archive and study post mortem and donor material from a rare and precious collection of pancreatic material collected from patients (mostly children) with Type 1 diabetes. These unique and critical pancreatic specimens provide the only opportunity available to study this disease, in its originating organ, at diagnosis in this age group of people. Accurate, comprehensive utility and archiving of this rare resource is the primary objective of the current application. Importantly these samples were not collected in optimal conditions so require careful imaging and analysis to ensure maximum utility.
