## Summary

Northumbria Police has completed a competitive quotation procurement process for the demolition and rebuilding of the retaining wall at Whickham Police Station in the North East of the United Kingdom. The contract, valued at £69,287, was awarded to 186 Property Solutions. The procurement process, classified under CPV code 45210000 for Building construction work, was concluded with an award date of 17 February 2025. The contract started on 1 April 2025 and is expected to be completed by 31 July 2025. The procurement method used was a limited competitive quotation as it falls below the threshold.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses in the construction industry, especially those capable of handling small-scale yet critical infrastructure projects. Companies specialising in safe demolition, careful excavation, and rebuilding of retaining structures, particularly those with experience in handling live mains cables, would be well-suited to compete for similar contracts. This project highlights the importance of safety and precision in construction works adjacent to sensitive areas, providing growth opportunities for SMEs in the building construction sector.

## Notice

A survey has recently been carried out at Whickham Police Station to assess the condition of the retaining third party wall. The survey outlined that the wall was deemed unsafe, therefore there is a requirement to demolish the wall and rebuild a retaining wall using he design attached (Appendix A) which considers the current ground conditions and site constraints, such as site access and the presence of both the domestic residencies and the substation. The foliage behind the wall should also be removed and disposed of. Due to the location of the retaining wall the Contractor must ensure that the relevant areas are hand dug and protection of the live mains cable is considered. The Customer will NOT be responsible for any risks associated with identifying and marking the route of the live cable and any additional costs associated with this need must be included within your quotation.
