## Summary

The University of Nottingham is seeking tenders for the design, build, installation, and commissioning of a semi-automated coil taping system, under the title "1474/ITT/SC - Reconfigurable Flexible and Automated Coil Taping System". This procurement falls within the electrical equipment industry category, specifically parts of electricity distribution and control apparatus, with a total contract value of £48,000. The tender process is currently active and follows an open procedure, which allows any interested party to submit a bid. The deadline for submissions is set for 28th May 2021, with the contract anticipated to commence on 8th June 2021 and run until 7th June 2022. Responses must be submitted through the university's e-tendering system, and non-compliance with the submission process could lead to disqualification.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in electrical engineering, automation technologies, and precision manufacturing to expand their market presence. Companies capable of installing and commissioning complex machinery, particularly those with expertise in flexible manufacturing systems, will find this contract especially relevant. Additionally, businesses offering training services for operational staff on the newly implemented machinery could also benefit significantly from this procurement process. By participating in this tender, suppliers can not only secure a valuable contract but also position themselves strategically within the rapidly evolving field of automation and electrical apparatus.

## Notice

This RFQ is for the design, build, installation, supply, commissioning and training of a semi-automated coil taping system for the prototyping of high voltage, distributed and concentrated windings. UoN seek coil taping machinery able to produce reliable dielectric insulation with minimisation of local faults (phase to phase, phase to ground), reduced risk of partial discharges and improved thermal conductivity between the conductors and stator core, over the active length, and against air or fluids in the end winding regions. Giving the said nature of work and manufacturing volumes, the focus priority area is the flexibility of the setup rather than speed of taping process. Within this environment while some manual processes may be acceptable, it is envisaged that with the coil-taping machinery purchased through this process, the amount of manual processes is kept to a minimum.
