## Notice

The successful candidate will have specialist expertise relevant to electrification and an ability to approach the issues involved from a whole systems perspective. We envisage a need for up to 40 days support through to March 2018 (on a call-off basis). Specific requirements are set out below. Description: This procurement seeks to contract one or two technical experts to support the development of this work with regards to potential heat electrification scenarios. The expert or experts will be called upon to provide bespoke input and to the project team as well as rigorous credible expert challenge to externally appointed contractors and our own developing thinking. In particular we are looking for the following expertise: Extensive knowledge of the electricity sector at strategic and operational levels, including: * electricity network infrastructure (operation, maintenance and investment) including technical knowledge of different smart and conventional network reinforcement options * electricity markets * key decision makers and actors * potential of flexibility technologies such as storage (including behind the meter) and interconnection, and how they interact with the whole electricity system * the characteristics and systems impact of different generation technologies, including distributed generation, and how they interact with each other * potential network impacts associated with heat electrification technologies, and interactions with transport electrification including the relationship to different deployment patterns * practical and logistical challenges associated with changes to electricity infrastructure * technologies that use electricity for heating in homes, businesses and industry, the nature of their impact on the grid and issues with conversion to them. Any late submissions will not be considered. BEIS reserves the right to halt the procurement process and to not award a contract. BEIS will not be held liable for recovery of costs from unsuccessful bids if a contract is not awarded. All costs will be borne by the bidding organisations. If a contract is created it will be upon BEIS Standard Terms and Conditions, which are available on Contracts Finder with this notice. Completed tender submission must be sent to Katie Halter at katie.halter@beis.gov.uk by the deadline stipulated above. Bid clarification, if necessary, will take place between 16 and 18 August 2017. If successful and upon contract signature, the supplier is expected to attend a kick-off meeting taking place on a date to be confirmed. Project completion is required by 31 March 2018.
