## Summary

Newcastle University is conducting a procurement process for the supply of a Full Spectrum Photovoltaic Quantum Efficiency Measurement System. The procurement is in the Award stage, with the contract value set at £61,465. The contract period is scheduled to commence on 31st January 2022 and conclude on 3rd May 2022. This tender falls under the category of Laboratory, optical and precision equipment, with delivery expected in England. The initial tender period ended on 13th January 2022, and the award was officially published on 14th February 2022.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in laboratory equipment, particularly those capable of supplying and implementing advanced solar energy testing systems. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the fields of renewable energy technologies, photonics, and precision instrumentation would be particularly well-suited to compete. The awarded contract includes after-sales support and maintenance, indicating the potential for ongoing business relationships and service agreements within the sector.

## Notice

Research in the Energy Materials Laboratory develops solution-processed devices that convert and store the energy from sunlight to provide sustainable power and fuel. The laboratory contains world-leading expertise and facilities for dye-sensitized, perovskite and quantum dot solar cells as well as photo- and photoelectrocatalysis. The laboratory aligns with the institutional strategy that includes the establishment of Centre for Research Excellence in Energy, the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Renewable Energy at North east Universities (ReNU), and the establishment of NU Academic Track Fellowships, several of whom will benefit from this enhanced capacity and capability to test PV devices. We are seeking to upgrade our quantum efficiency facility to both increase capacity for solar cell testing (by integrating internal quantum efficiency measurement) and add the capability to test larger submodules (e.g. 10 x 10 cm). This equipment is being funded through the UK Government's Defence Innovation Fund, as part of Project ViTAL. The scope of this contract was for the supply, delivery and installation of the equipment detailed in the IT to the University, with after-sales support and 12 months warranty and maintenance
