## Summary

The procurement process is being conducted by the Defra Network eTendering Portal for the project titled "Mapping sites for alternative use of dredge material in the North East." The project falls under the marine equipment category and seeks to identify existing and potential future sites where dredged material can be used beneficially. The tender is currently in the planning stage, with a closing date for submissions set for 7th December 2018. The contract period is anticipated to start on 7th January 2019 and run until 25th March 2019, covering locations across the United Kingdom and British Overseas Territories.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses focused on marine engineering, environmental consultancy, or technical mapping services to engage in innovative projects that enhance marine resource management. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly well-suited to compete, given the project's emphasis on accessibility and alternative uses of dredged materials. By participating in this process, successful bidders could significantly contribute to sustainable practices while expanding their operational capabilities within the public procurement landscape.

## Notice

The objectives of this project are as follows: 1. map existing sites of dredging activity in the north east, north west, south east and south west marine plan areas and where dredged material has been used 'alternatively' in activities rather than depositing at sea. (Note; we expect this objective to be quick and require minimal resources as the MMO will supply the spatial extent data to be mapped. Resources for the work should be focused on objective 2) 2. map potential future sites for dredging activity and where the material could be used/is needed alternatively in the future. This could be informed by estuary management plans, shoreline management plans, beach management plans and industry documents, such as Port master plans.
