## Summary

The University of Exeter is conducting a procurement process for the provision of survey conduction and analysis services, titled "COVID-19 - Public opinion panel surveys." The contract is classified under the CPV code for survey conduction services. This procurement is at the award stage, with the contract having been awarded on 6th July 2020, and the total contract value is approximately £128,975. The contract period runs from 5th August 2020 to 5th November 2021, with delivery addresses located in the South West region of the United Kingdom.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in survey services, particularly those capable of delivering thorough analysis of public opinion related to COVID-19. SMEs with expertise in conducting qualitative and quantitative research, data collection, and public engagement are well-suited to compete in this process. The project aims to enhance the understanding of public beliefs about science and health matters, thus creating avenues for businesses that can provide innovative solutions and comprehensive insights in these areas.

## Notice

Each component of the project will seek to increase our scientific understanding of information consumption and belief updating about science, health, and other controversial subjects while also generating practical, real-world recommendations that will help policymakers, journalists, and science communicators to design policies and deliver information that will help stop the pandemic. By combining a multi-wave survey experiment with a large enough sample to examine highly affected areas (e.g., West Midlands) and behavioural exposure data, this study will provide the most systematic measurement to date of (1) the accuracy of the COVID-related beliefs about public health and public policy; (2) the prevalence of health and policy misconceptions related to COVID-19 and the correlates of those misconceptions; (3) the prevalence of exposure to both high-quality and untrustworthy information about COVID-19, including the most important sources of (mis)information and the correlates of consumption of both types of information; and (4) the effectiveness of corrective information in combating COVID-related misconceptions.
