## Summary

The Home Office has issued a tender titled "Vessel Arrest Entanglement Boom" in the maritime industry for the urgent development and supply of a specialised vessel arrest boom. This request aims to enhance safety in vessel stopping operations without risking harm to occupants. The procurement process is at the award stage, with the contract expected to commence on 6th July 2020 and conclude by 20th July 2020. The deadline for proposal submissions was set for 29th June 2020, with the contract value amounting to £12,395.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) experienced in marine equipment and safety devices. Businesses capable of rapid resource mobilisation and with a strong track record in similar projects will be well-positioned to compete. Given the urgency and technical nature of the requirements, firms with expertise in manufacturing and deploying maritime safety solutions should consider engaging in this competitive quotation process.

## Notice

An urgent requirement exists to work with Home Office Border Force (BF) to develop and supply a vessel arrest boom. The purpose of this requirement is to provide a safe way of stopping a vessel without causing harm to the occupants. The boom will be required to be deployed at speed at sea from either a RHIB, BF CPV or Cutter and will stop the target vessel by, for example, entangling a vessel's propellers causing them to come to a controlled stop. The successful bidder will be required to mobilise resources immediately and deliver a product, ready for demonstration, within two weeks of contract award. Along with the proposal, bidders should confirm their agreement to the following; * That the Authority retains the right to withdraw this requirement during any stage of this process; and * that the Supplier agrees to the Authority's Short Form T&C's (C18993 - Vessel Arrest Boom - T&C's) on which the contract will be awarded. Proposals should be submitted by e-mail to Adam Jones, Home Office Commercial (adam.jones43@homeoffice.gov.uk no later than 17:00hrs BST, Monday 29th June 2020.
