## Summary

The West Midlands Growth Company Ltd has completed the procurement process for a research consultancy service under the title "Visitor Economy-Public Transport Use Across the West Midlands' Evening Economy". The procurement, which was in the award stage as of 11 April 2025, aims to commission a comprehensive study, report, and stakeholder presentation regarding the impact of evening public transport on the regional visitor economy. This project not only targets venues, events, and theatres but also addresses the transportation barriers to employment across various locales, including the British Oversea Territories, Channel Islands, Europe, Isle of Man, and the United Kingdom. The project commenced on 1 April 2025 and is set to conclude on 31 May 2025, with a tender period that ended on 14 March 2025.

Businesses specializing in research consultancy services, especially SMEs and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs), stand to benefit significantly from this tender. It offers a platform to contribute to regional policy-making and influence public transport strategies, particularly in the context of evening economies. Companies with expertise in economic, social, and market research are well-suited to compete for such tenders, given their ability to provide robust evidence that can shape future investment decisions and public transport timetabling. The awarded supplier, Live Music Mapping Project, will gain visibility by aiding the sustainable growth of the visitor economy sector in the West Midlands.

## Notice

WMGC is seeking to commission a study, report and stakeholder presentation which represents the experience of employers (venues, events, theatres), employees and visitors across the West Midlands' rich evening cultural attraction landscape, which attract visitors as well as a loyal local audience. There will be secondary data sources which add context and value to this study and references the additional negative environmental impacts of the potential loss of choice from visitors' inability to use public transport in the evening. This will provide a robust evidence base for future policymaking at a regional and national level and help to inform public transport timetabling and investment decisions. The franchising of WM bus services may be changing, and this study may influence bus provision at night. It may support the regional aim of enabling local people to access jobs by helping to lobby for the removal of transport barriers to employment. Finally, it helps businesses to better understand the context of visitors' decision-making and enables the sustainable growth of the visitor economy sector.
