## Summary

The Department of Health is conducting a procurement process titled "Review of Best Practice in the Identification of Young Carers". This initiative falls under the health and social work services category and is aimed at enhancing the identification and support for young carers aged under 18. The procurement method is open, following an open procedure below the threshold. The tender period concluded on 23 October 2018, and the contract commenced on 2 November 2018, lasting until 31 March 2019. The contract value is set at £100,000, with the office located in Leeds, England.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses focused on social care, health services, or community support. Companies experienced in research, evidence gathering, and best practices in identifying young carers will find this contracting process particularly relevant. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations are especially encouraged to participate, as they may be well-equipped to deliver the necessary insights and support for this important initiative.

## Notice

The Department of Health and Social Care is looking to engage a provider to review, evidence and share best practice in identifying young carers (aged under 18), in order to increase timely identification so that young carers can receive appropriate support from services and the community around them. The identification of young carers is an essential step in ensuring that young carers, and their families, receive the support they need, in particular ensuring that young carers do not have to provide excessive or inappropriate care. This project and its outcomes will support joint working between the statutory and voluntary sectors, and wider communities, as part of developing carer-friendly communities, to achieve better identification and support of young carers.
