## Summary

The SE Shared Services, located in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, has successfully completed the procurement process for the project titled "SCC AGC Social Prescribing - citizen engagement and co-design of pathway." This initiative, classified under community health services (CPV 85323000), aimed to enhance social prescribing by connecting primary care patients with community resources in Surrey. The contract, awarded on 25 April 2018, had a total value of £25,000, with a contract period spanning from 1 April 2018 to 31 August 2018. The open procurement method was employed, and the tender period concluded on 22 March 2018.

This award presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in community health and social support services. Companies experienced in qualitative research, community engagement, and social care solutions are particularly well-suited to capitalise on similar future tenders. By effectively addressing the unmet needs highlighted in the social prescribing framework, these businesses can enhance their service offerings and potentially grow their market presence in the public sector.

## Notice

Social prescribing describes a way in which health and social care professionals (in fact any professional that is in contact with the general public) can access a wide range of non-medical options for an individual to address socioeconomic and psychosocial issues. A social prescribing scheme is a way of linking patients in primary care with sources of support within the community and will enable an individual to move between professional sectors and their community to fully address all the factors affecting their health and wellbeing before they escalate, viewing the individual as a person rather than defining them by their condition or disability. Within Surrey, there are a wide range of community resources available to help keep people independent and well but often fail to connect local residents-in-need to all that is available to them. While there are pockets of good practice within the County where social prescribing pilots are underway, there is a need for the benefits of a Social Prescribing approach to be realised and evidenced county wide in a sustainable manner. We are looking to undertake a piece of qualitative research, engaging Surrey citizens, to ensure the development of social prescribing approaches and pathways locally are co-designed with local citizens, who will ultimately use and benefit from the social prescriptions. This piece of work will inform the design and implementation of social prescribing approached across Surrey Heartlands.
