## Summary

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has initiated an award for the "Dud - BCI - Teenage & Young Parents Support Programme" in Sandwell, focusing on services within the education and training sector. The procurement process, classified under the CPV code 80000000, followed a selective (restricted) procedure and has now reached the award stage. The contract period commenced on 26 August 2019 and will run until 28 February 2020, with the procurement closing on 14 August 2019. The programme aims to support eligible 16-29 year-olds who are not in employment, education, or training, particularly addressing barriers young parents face in accessing training and employment.

This contract presents an opportunity for service providers with experience in delivering educational courses tailored for young parents, especially those who can offer accessible creche or nursery facilities. Businesses operating in the education and training sector, particularly those specialising in youth services or community support, would be well-positioned to compete for this tender. By engaging in this initiative, providers can contribute to the local community's development while growing their own operations through the delivery of valuable support programmes.

## Notice

Potential Service Providers MUST demonstrate clear and extensive expertise and experience of working with and delivering courses to eligible 16-29 year olds who are not in employment, education or training (NEET). This programme is designed to motivate, support and prepare Teenage and Young Parents to make a successful transition into education, training or apprenticeships/jobs. Additionally, to provide them with useful tools to enable them to make positive decisions for themselves and their child (children). The course should take place 2 to 3 days per week over a period of 4 to 6 weeks and within school hours. A barrier to young parents accessing training, education and/or employment is the accessibility of nursery/creche provision. Service Providers should therefore either have creche/nursery facilities on their premises or within easy walking distance of where the training is taking place. The provision of work experience and employment opportunities with family friendly employers would add value to the programme.
