This commission is part of Historic England's High Street Heritage Action Zones Cultural Programme (2020-24) and is inspired by Picturing High Streets, a three-year photography commission delivered by Photoworks to create a contemporary portrait of England's high streets. As part of the Cultural Programme, and in addition to Picturing High Streets, Historic England is working with Bristol City Council to commission a creative photographic response to Bristol's high streets called Picturing Bristol. Photographers and/or photographic organisations will work in the 9 local Bristol high streets to co-create a series of activities and/or photographic outputs that will build a contemporary portrait of Bristol's high streets and the communities who use them.
