## Summary

Birmingham City Council is initiating a tender for the "ME4 - Waste Procurement Soft Market Testing survey," focusing on refuse and waste-related services. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with an engagement deadline set for 6th April 2022. This tender aims to develop a procurement strategy for processing Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) over a period of three years, with the possibility of a two-year extension. Notable dates include the publication of the Invitation to Tender (ITT) on 8th February 2023, a submission deadline on 27th March 2023, and the contract start date expected on 17th January 2024. The contract will be signed directly with the successful bidder, and services will be delivered within the West Midlands region.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in waste management, recycling, and related services, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector enterprises (VCSEs). Companies capable of processing recyclable materials and managing waste disposal sustainably will be well-positioned to compete for this contract, especially those with a focus on environmentally responsible practices. Engaging in this procurement process allows businesses to align with Birmingham City Council's objectives and support its aim to advance waste solutions while potentially securing a stable contract for several years.
