## Summary

The procurement process involves Wirral Borough Council seeking to appoint a contractor for the maintenance of Public Space CCTV Cameras and associated equipment. The tender, titled "Public Space CCTV Cameras & Associated Equipment 2017," falls under the Closed-circuit television apparatus industry category and is located in the North East of England. The procurement is currently in the Award stage, following a successful tender period that ended on 11th October 2017. The contract is valued at £250,000 and will span from 1st December 2017 to 30th November 2019, with the potential for two one-year extensions.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in surveillance technology and maintenance services, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can demonstrate relevant experience. Businesses capable of providing comprehensive maintenance for CCTV systems, including telemetry receivers and control room equipment, would be well-suited to compete. Engaging in this contract could enhance a company’s portfolio and reputation within public sector contracts, paving the way for future opportunities in similar public safety sectors.

## Notice

Wirral Council currently operates 112 public space CCTV cameras, mainly using BT RS1000 fibre optic communications. The communications and recording equipment is located in the Community Safety Control Room in Birkenhead, with a remote control room located within the same building used by Traffic Management. A link to the Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire & Rescue Joint Command Centre is also in place enabling control of the 112 cameras by the Police. Wireless 3G Deployable CCTV cameras, from various manufacturers, are also in use and are accessed from stand-alone computers. Cameras and recording equipment, with encryption software, are used by the Enforcement Team for covert operations, in accordance with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act. Wirral Council wishes to appoint a single, appropriately experienced, contractor for a period of 2 years, with the option of two 1 year extensions, to maintain existing Public Space CCTV cameras and associated equipment including Coe telemetry receivers together with control room equipment, including monitors and DVRs but excluding existing transmission equipment (BT RS1000 circuits). Sites with RedVision or 360 Vision cameras have Coe-Pelco interface units installed.
