## Summary

Essex County Council, acting through the Essex Procurement Partnership, has concluded an open procedure for procuring bedding plants on behalf of Tendring District Council. This procurement, part of the grounds maintenance programme, targets enhancing the environment in the district with quality bedding plant displays in various public gardens, including Clacton Seafront, Crescent Gardens Frinton, Marine Gardens Walton, and Mayors Garden Dovercourt. The contract, valued at approximately £165,000, was awarded on 11 November 2024 to Amethyst Horticulture Limited, with a contract period running from 12 November 2024 until 30 September 2027, and an optional extension of up to two additional years. The procurement is classified under the agricultural and horticultural products category and is supported by Essex County Council's commitment to timely deliveries across multiple locations in England.

This tender creates growth opportunities for businesses specialising in horticulture, particularly SMEs and VCSEs. With a requirement for a consistent supply of a diverse selection of bedding plants, there is potential for suppliers who can meet the high standards and specific delivery schedules of Tendring District Council. Businesses involved in plant production, nursery operations, and garden supply chains would be well-suited to compete, benefiting from a steady demand of approximately 45,000 to 67,500 plants yearly. The project offers a substantial opportunity for consistent revenue over the initial three-year term, potentially extending to five years, fostering long-term business relationships and stability.
