## Summary

The Environment Agency is preparing to initiate a tender for the "Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Operational Framework - South East Hub," which falls under the civil engineering industry. This proposed framework aims to establish a contractual arrangement for delivering low-value civil engineering projects and routine maintenance works across the South East region of the United Kingdom. The contract period is set to commence on 1st April 2019 and will run until 31st March 2022. Interested parties can expect a future notice to be published on 1st June 2018, and they are encouraged to register their interest for updates on the opportunities available.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in civil engineering and maintenance services. Businesses engaged in minor civil engineering works, such as culvert inspection and clearance, as well as routine maintenance services including vegetation management and pest control, will find suitable avenues to compete for contracts. The framework's emphasis on efficiency and emergency response capabilities highlights the need for nimble, responsive contractors ready to meet diverse service demands within the South East region.

## Notice

The purpose of this framework is to put in place a contractual arrangement that is fit for purpose for delivering low value civil engineering projects and packages as well as routine maintenance works. The North, Central and South West hubs have already begun this future arrangement. Incorporating approximately 30 of our previous arrangements and frameworks covering a wide range of services - minor (civil engineering) works, culvert inspection and clearance, vegetation management, tree works, main river maintenance, pest control and soft engineering and river restoration works. The structure and approach we have settled on reflects the need to be more efficient in the way that we operate as well as making the arrangements easier for both the Environment Agency and our successful suppliers. Lot 1 - Small scale civil engineering and maintenance works (including culvert inspection and clearance) Lot 2 - Routine maintenance, vegetation management and pest control Both lots will require emergency / incident response capability.
