## Summary

Hedge End Town Council has awarded a contract titled "Footpath Upgrade in Wildern Local Nature Reserve" for the upgrade and resurfacing of a footpath within Wildern Local Nature Reserve, Hedge End. This project, classified under surface work for footpaths, involves constructing an all-weather path with self-binding gravel to harmonise with the reserve's ecological setting. Marlow Groundworks, a small and medium-sized enterprise, has been selected as the principal contractor to undertake the works, which include managing tree roots and installing raised walkways. The procurement process was conducted via an open procedure above the threshold, with the award published on 2 April 2026. The contract period extends from 13 April 2026 to 31 July 2026.

This tender offers growth opportunities for businesses experienced in ecological construction and groundworks, particularly those that can demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental preservation. Small and medium-sized enterprises are especially encouraged, given the suitability for SMEs indicated in the tender requirements. Companies capable of delivering self-binding gravel surfaces, managing drainage, and enhancing accessibility through nature reserves would find this opportunity to be aligned with their expertise. The project requires specific commitments to maintaining biodiversity, making it ideal for environmentally-conscious contractors with a portfolio of similar projects.
