## Summary

The procurement process involves the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence's Joint Electronic Surveillance Delivery Team, which seeks to procure and support 25 MPU5 radios under the title "Procurement and support of MPU5 radios." This contract falls into the goods category, specifically classified under portable radios (CPV code 32344280). Located in the Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, and Bristol/Bath area, the contracting authority is using a limited procurement method, specifically a negotiated procedure without prior publication of a contract notice. The total anticipated value of this contract is £1.1 million (ex VAT), with a contract duration of 5 years featuring options for additional systems (3+1+1 years). Key dates include contract signing on January 5 and 7, 2021, indicating the finalisation of the awards.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in telecommunications and electronic goods manufacturing, particularly those capable of supplying compatible radio systems. Firms with expertise in providing ancillary services, spares, and training related to radio technology would be particularly well-suited to compete in this procurement process. Additionally, suppliers who can demonstrate the ability to deliver systems that integrate with existing in-service equipment while fulfilling the Ministry of Defence's technical requirements could benefit from this contract's substantial duration and financial value.

The radios are required in addition to existing MPU5 radios. To obtain alternative radios from an alternative supplier would oblige MOD to acquire goods with different technical characteristics. This would result in incompatibility between the existing goods and failure to provide additional equipment capable of communicating with current in-service radios. MPU5 radios are essential in enabling a networking solution with the in-service radios.
