## Summary

Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking a supplier for the provision of Funeral Services specifically for care home residents across Nottinghamshire, excluding Nottingham City. The procurement process is currently complete, with the contract awarded after an open tender procedure. This contract, designated as DN467653, has an initial duration of three years, with an option for extension for up to two additional years in twelve-month increments. The Council has a legal obligation to arrange approximately thirty funerals per year for individuals who pass away in residential and nursing care accommodation without anyone able to make funeral arrangements. The award was made on 21 December 2020 to A.W. Lymn the Family Funeral Service Limited.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the funeral services sector, particularly those experienced in caring for vulnerable populations and adhering to the National Association of Funeral Directors Code of Practice. Companies capable of providing comprehensive funeral arrangements, including prompt cremation or burial services, transportation of the deceased, and packaging, will be well-suited to compete. Given the estimated volume of services required, businesses with robust operational capabilities and a commitment to quality could see substantial growth by engaging with this contract.
