## Summary

The contracting authority, National Highways, has recently announced the extension of the National Traffic Information System (NTIS) contract, now set to run until January 2027. This decision follows the initial five-year contract term, under a procurement process classified as electronic information services in the services category. The extension involves a one-year period as outlined in the original contract terms. The contract, valued at £49,254,145.98, employs a selective procurement method with a competitive dialogue. Notably, Sopra Steria Limited, based in the UK, has been identified as the supplier under this contract. The NTIS is vital for managing 4,300 miles of the UK's strategic road network, providing real-time traffic information to enhance journey planning and safety.

The NTIS extension offers plentiful business growth opportunities, particularly for companies specialising in electronic information services and data analytics. Firms with expertise in real-time data processing, traffic management solutions or IT systems development may find this contract extension significant. The project demands services that range from collecting, processing, and disseminating traffic data, to ensuring the delivery of operational services and transformative technologies. This approach aims to address dynamic customer needs, striving for continual innovation in traffic information dissemination, making it an appealing venture for firms desiring to partner or subcontract with the main contractor, Sopra Steria Limited.
