## Summary

The University of Aberdeen is conducting a tender for the procurement of "Whole-Body Fast Field-Cycling Magnet, Gradient and Shim Assembly, with the Corresponding Current Amplifiers," classified under medical equipment. Currently in the active tender stage, this procurement process involves three main lots: the main magnet system, power supplies for the magnet, and current amplifiers for the gradient system. The tender period concludes on 15 March 2021, with submissions to be made electronically. The delivery location is in Aberdeen, UK.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in medical equipment manufacturing, particularly those with expertise in advanced electromagnet technology and power supply systems. Companies focused on precision engineering, providing technical support, and ensuring high performance and technical merit of their products would be well-positioned to compete for these contracts with the University of Aberdeen. This is an excellent opportunity for both established and innovative firms in the medical and engineering sectors to engage with a leading educational institution.

## Notice

AWARD NOTICE - The University of Aberdeen is leading the research and development efforts of Fast Field-Cycling imaging (FFC imaging). This is a new technology that derives from MRI but allows controlling the main magnetic field, contrary to conventional scanners that operate at a fixed magnetic field strength. To achieve such a level of control the main magnet must be carefully designed to exhibit a low inductance so that it can be driven to alter its field strength within 10 to 20 ms (ramp time), using gradient-type power supplies.

### Lot Information

Main Magnet, Gradient coils, Shim Correction coils and Environmental Correction coils

AWARD NOTICE for - A whole-body electromagnet, a three-axis gradient system, a set of correction coils ('shims') to improve the homogeneity of the main magnet, and a set of environmental correction coils to compensate for external magnetic fields (including Earth's field). Further detail available in Invitation To Tender documentation.

Renewal: Possible maintenance contract extensions

Power Supplies and current amplifier for the Main Magnet system

AWARD NOTICE for - Three power current amplifiers that will each drive one segment of the main magnet. It is important to consider that the three magnet segments are tightly coupled and act as 1:1 transformers. Further detail in the Invitation To Tender Documentation.

Current amplifiers for the Gradient system

AWARD Notice for - Three current amplifiers that will each drive one of the gradient coils from Lot Number 1 Further detail available in the Invitation To Tender documentation.

Renewal: Possible extensions to maintenance contract
