## Summary

Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd has completed a procurement process for the contract titled "Testing, Verification, Validation & Integration" related to the supply of railways traffic-control equipment under the Digital Railway Programme. The procurement was conducted through a selective method, using a negotiated procedure with prior call for competition. The award was made on 14th January 2021, and the procurement stage has reached the award phase. The project is based in the UK and focuses on integrating and testing various manufacturers' ETCS equipment to facilitate interoperability and compliance with Technical Specifications of Interoperability (TSIs).

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in railway services, particularly those capable of providing testing and integration solutions for railways traffic-control equipment. Companies that possess expertise in system integration and validation within the railway industry, including both large and small enterprises, could find themselves well-suited to engage in future projects stemming from this programme. With increasing investments in railway infrastructure, successful bidders like Atkins Ltd are likely to enjoy sustained growth and partnership opportunities in a sector poised for technological advancement.

## Notice

The Digital Railway Programme (DRP) requires a capability to test interoperability between multiple manufacturers' equipment and enable adherence to the relevant Technical Specifications of Interoperability (TSIs) in relation to trackside and on-board ETCS equipment. It is envisaged that the core requirements will comprise the delivery of a System Integration (SI) lab that can provide a single testing platform system that is capable of integrating and testing different suppliers' Trackside and Onboard ETCS products for different projects within the scope of the DRP. NR will appoint a managed service provider for these testing services. This will include scenario testing of all ETCS equipment (hardware, software and comms) against the known and constantly updated configuration of the network which will provide early identification of any issues in advance of equipment installation and will therefore de-risk ETCS rollout cost and timescales.
