## Summary

The Department of Health and Social Care has completed a procurement process for the title "Storage of Positive Samples," within the laboratory services industry in the UK. This tender was initiated under a limited procurement method due to extreme urgency arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, which necessitated the rapid scaling of testing programmes. The process was officially awarded on 4 February 2021, with the contract valued at £1,724,000. The primary goal was the collection, storage, and distribution of positive samples to support the validation of new tests and technologies for the National Testing Programme.

This tender provides an opportunity for businesses in the healthcare and laboratory services sectors, particularly those involved in sample management and testing solutions, to expand their capabilities and services in response to public health needs. Suppliers that can offer innovative testing technologies or efficient logistical solutions would be well-suited to compete in this tender. Engaging with such opportunities not only contributes to the public health response but can also facilitate significant business growth in a sector that is increasingly focused on resilience and capacity enhancement.
