## Summary

The procurement process involves NHS Blood & Transplant (NHSBT) seeking suppliers for Human Leucocyte Antigen (HLA) specific antibody detection and definition systems, classified under biomedical equipment. The contract has reached the award stage, with a total value of £7,020,000 for the HLA Antibody Detection and Definition Systems lot, awarded to both Immucor and VH Bio Ltd. The secondary lot for the maintenance of existing Luminex systems has a value of £123,000 and was awarded to Immucor. The framework agreement, which is effective for four years, applies to a deliverable network across six locations in the UK, including Birmingham and Newcastle, and must comply with the open procurement method.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in biomedical equipment and related services, particularly those involved in histocompatibility, immunogenetics, or medical equipment maintenance. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger suppliers with expertise in HLA antibody testing and laboratory technologies would be well-positioned to compete. As the NHSBT will collaborate closely with successful suppliers, those who can deliver efficient, timely, and cost-effective solutions are likely to succeed in this competitive market.
