## Summary

The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has recently completed a tender process titled "Supply and support of HLA Rapid typing systems" in the healthcare industry. This procurement was conducted under an open procedure, focusing on the procurement of goods and specifically biomedical equipment necessary for histocompatibility and immunogenetics. The tender initiated with key dates surrounding the contract award, including a signed agreement dated 12th February 2021 for a four-year Framework Agreement. The relevant delivery locations include a network of six laboratories across the UK, specifically in regions such as Birmingham, Bristol, Colindale, Newcastle, Sheffield, and Tooting.

This contracting process offers significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the medical equipment and consumables sector, particularly those capable of providing rapid HLA typing systems and associated kits. Potential bidders should possess expertise in developing biomedical equipment and medical diagnostics to align with NHSBT's requirements for efficiency, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness. The awarded contracts cover both "New HLA (Rapid) Typing Equipment" and "Kits for HLA (rapid) typing systems," valued at £241,000 and £261,000 respectively, indicating a substantial market opportunity for suppliers in this niche area.
